so, how does
a shoot work?

Get things rolling

Every shoot begins with me getting to know you & your business properly. I take the time to understand how you work & what you need your photos to do for you. The best way to chat things through is over email, a coffee, or a call.

I’ll send over my photography packages & pricing guide on email after your enquiry, so you can see all your options clearly in one simple, digital guide - no pressure, just clarity.

Photoshoot planning

Once you’ve chosen a photoshoot package, we’ll get your shoot booked in my diary & make sure you feel fully prepared in the lead-up.

From there I'll pop over a simple contract & some questions so we can get the details sorted! Together we'll shape a shot list &

mood board, so we’re both aligned with the vision ahead of your photoshoot.

We'll have our photoshoot together, yay!

Check your inbox

After our photoshoot together, I’ll get stuck into editing & send your beautiful fresh imagery over through an online gallery to your inbox, usually within1 - 2 weeks.

If you’re in a hurry & need your photos sooner, there’s a ‘speedy delivery’ option on all of my packages - just mention it when booking your photoshoot with me!

Who is 'Girl Behind The Lens' and what do you do?

I’m Amy, Girl Behind The Lens, an independent South West UK based Business and Brand Photographer, and photoshoot stylist, capturing authentic photography for small & mighty businesses across Devon and Cornwall, the UK and worldwide. If you’d like to find out more about me, have a read here.

How can I book a photoshoot for my business?

It’s as easy as getting in touch via this form or popping me an email to amy@girlbehindthelens.co.uk. I’ll take a look at my diary and can get you booked in for a date that works for us both. If you have any questions I’m always happy to jump on a call, or meet in person for a coffee to chat through your vision.

How much does a photoshoot cost?

I offer a range of product, food and brand photography packages, starting from £195. To take a look at my packages & pricing guide, please get in touch and tell me a little about what you’re looking for, and I'll send it over on email. My packages always include photographing, shoot styling, on site directing and editing, as standard.

What's your turn round time for the photos from our shoot?

You can look forward to receiving your fully edited photographs within 1 - 2 weeks of our photoshoot, delivered via an online private gallery to your inbox. There is a ‘speedy delivery’ option available for your photos, for an additional fee. Please ask about this when booking if you need your photos back from your photoshoot sooner and we'll make it work!

How do I receive the photos from a photoshoot?

All of your gorgeous new photographs will be sent on email with a link to your own online private gallery. You’ll receive them as quality high res files ready for you to download and use as soon as the invoice has been paid. Photos will also be available to download as web size from your gallery.

How far in advance do I need to book a photoshoot with you?

It is best to get in touch with me at least 4 - 6 weeks before you’d like your photoshoot to be booked in for. To be the very first to know about my availability every month, I recommend that you sign up to my studio newsletter here (I don't bombard you with pointless emails!) or stay connected on socials.

Who owns the copyright to the photos taken on our shoot?

I retain the copyright to all photographs taken, as I produced the work, however the photographs are owned by you and you can use them wherever you’d like, without editing them further.

All I ask is that you consider crediting myself when using any photos from our photoshoot in marketing and print. This is not essential but as a freelance Photographer, and independent business, this really makes a huge difference to my work.

Can I send my products to your product photography studio?

Yes, of course! No matter where you are located, you can send your products to my Devon photography studio, and your gorgeous products will be photographed & styled to reflect your brand and create stop worthy product photographs – all whilst you continue running your business.

Who pays for the postage costs for product photoshoots?

All postage costs for product photoshoots are to be covered by yourself for shipping to and from my Devon studio. Any return postage costs are added onto your final photoshoot invoice, and organised to be sent back to you usually via Parcelforce or Hermes - tracked & with 48 hour delivery.

Do you travel outside of Devon & Cornwall for photoshoots?

Yes, I love to travel for shoots and can travel to wherever you’re based in the UK & worldwide. I’ve previously travelled to various areas within the UK, Portugal & Morocco to capture content for brands.

Please note, there is an additional charge of 45p per mile, 30 miles outside of Exeter, Devon.

Get in touch for a bespoke quote for your business photoshoot.

Could you photograph my studio or shop?

Yes, of course! I always look forward to meeting people in person and capturing their gorgeous workspace, shop or studio on a Lifestyle shoot. Travel expenses & availability will need to be considered, but get in touch and we can discuss the details.

Is there a planning process before a photoshoot together?

Yes, those that know me will know that I love a bit of planning! I’ll pop you over some questions about what you’re looking for from our shoot together, plus I will create a shared mood board on Pinterest with you so you can get ideas vision across visually.

Why do you plant trees for every photoshoot you book?

As an independent business owner, sustainability isn’t a buzzword for me - it’s about making thoughtful choices, even when no one’s watching, taking responsibility where you can, and building something that gives back rather than just takes. I've partnered with One Tree Planted, so when you book a photoshoot with me, I donate to plant a tree. Read more about it here.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Any cancellation made more than 7 days prior to the session will be fully refundable. However, cancellations made within 7 days of your booked photoshoot, will require a payment of 50% of the shoot cost. Please make yourself aware of this policy before booking.

This same policy applies when you book a product photoshoot with me, and your products are not delivered to the studio by the date of your shoot, as this is effectively a cancellation.
