If you’re new here, my Client Stories blog is a regular ongoing series on sharing my talented photography client’s stories online. I have a regular chat with my loveliest clients and feature their business story along with the photos from our shoot together.
This Client Story features The Little Flower Box who I’ve worked with for a few lifestyle shoots now, capturing owner, Philippa's, horse box and florals and seasonal blooms along the way.
I’ve had a good chat with Philippa, founder of The Little Flower Box and asked her to tell me little more about how her business started and what she loves about her work.
Hi Philippa, when and why did you decide to start your incredible business?
My husband bought me Flora our horsebox box for my 50th Birthday as a surprise as I think he was fed up with me nattering that it would make an excellent Flower shop and things have really evolved from there.
What’s your favourite thing about what you do, and why?
I love the concious conversations with couples and often their families, the planning stages and chatting with couples about their thoughts and ideas and how we could help bring all this to life in a sustainable way.
Tell us more about how you started floristry.
We initially started how I had dreamt visiting farmers markets with my lovely set up in Flora. one lady said you are living my dream I thought yes I am but I could go much further and what we can offer could possibly be very different. I have always been creative and loved interiors, design, gardening, flowers and the wedding industry.
Attention to detail has always been part of who I am. Bringing this all together within a wedding setting seemed to fall into place nicely and has been very well received.

Do you have a favourite flower to grow?
Gosh that is a hard one. There are to many we always work with British local flowers and I would have to say one favourite is Orlaya Grandiflora. I just like to say it!!
What’s one piece of business advice you’d give others?
Follow your dream, make that jump, you don't have to be totally ready to start.
Sorry that is three!!
Tell us more about your horsebox and what kind of events you do.
Flora is a gorgeous grey converted horse box. She is used mainly now as a little on site mobile studio to organise flowers and to transport the large range of trees that we have in our collection for hire. You may often see her on the road within Cornwall, people often take a second look not expecting her to be carrying trees.
What’s been a highlight in your business journey so far?
There are two. Firstly Winning the Best Newcomer in trade at the Cornwall Garden Society Show in our first year. The second being approached due to our sustainability ethos by a large events company on behalf of Corona beer to help decorate an event on Fistral beach.
What does the next year hold for The Little Flower Box?
Sustainability is our main focus and we are hoping to move towards accreditation with The Sustainable wedding alliance. We are part of a wonderful community of flower growers and suppliers who's ethos is the same as ours and that feels very special. We have come along way this year and hope to continue having those wonderful conversations and helping decorate amazing weddings whilst being mindful of our planet.
