Behind the Lens: A Day in My Photography Studio

Have you ever wondered what really goes on behind the lens of a photoshoot? From the outside, it might just look like me pointing a camera and pressing a button, but the reality is so much richer. A day in my studio is about preparation, creativity, and collaboration - and it’s one of the most exciting yet complicated parts of what I do.
It usually begins with careful planning. Before the photoshoot even starts, I’ve spent time understanding the client’s brand, building mood boards, sourcing props, and styling the photoshoot - plus setting up the studio space. Every detail matters, from the way the light falls through the window to the colour of the backdrop.
Once I start shooting, the creativity really starts. It’s a balance of technical precision and creative instinct. I’m constantly adjusting lighting, experimenting with composition, and adjusting props to ensure that I capture a brand's true personality and their branding through photos. This is just for Product shoots from my studio - don't even get me started on my Lifestyle photoshoots including business owners and a little more directing!
No two shoots are ever the same. Some days are filled with colour, props, and energy, while others are minimal, calm, and focused. That’s the beauty of working with different brands - the studio becomes a reflection of each client’s story.
By the end of the day, I like to think I've created more than just photographs. I've built a visual narrative that captures the essence of a brand. And for me, that’s the most rewarding part: turning ideas and personalities into imagery that a business can be proud to share with the world.
